1999 Chevrolet Blazer
The TrailBlazer's Touring Ride suspension is firmer than either the standard Smooth Ride setup of the base Blazer or the optional ZW7 Premium Ride. Some may not appreciate the additional road feel. But the reward is an easily discernable improvement in responsiveness, a reduction in float and, thanks to greater roll resistance, less lean in the corners. The result is an overall greater feel of control and confidence at a minor cost of slightly bumpier ride. Out on Interstate 80, the TrailBlazer cruised effortlessly. The V6 operates in the low 2000-rpm range at highway speeds and, except for a subtle bass line from the engine and a steady road rumble up through the suspension, the ride is quiet enough for easy conversation between front and rear passengers. The tires selected by Chevrolet are free of whine and aren't so heavy as to overwhelm the suspension. A slight whisper of wind noise around the A-pillars is the only other distraction. The ride, though firm, is not at all harsh or jiggly. The TrailBlazer is one of the reasons so many people use a sport-utility in place of a car. It will do everything a car will do, and almost as well. Plus it adds almost unstoppable mobility in the worst weather and the capability to go where the roads don't. And of course, as the TrailBlazer, it now has the ability to take the Blazer line into a luxury market it has never before visited.
1999 Chevrolet Blazer - The Car Connection
The Blazer looks sleek and aggressive, thanks to a streamlined face designed to catch the eye with new headlamp clusters and integrated body-colored bumpers. The current model follows the form of a 1995 redesign, which emerged shortly after the debut of a new version of Chevrolet's S-10 compact pickup. The Blazer meets or exceeds competitors for on-board safety equipment, notably with the dual airbags and four-wheel anti-lock brake system carried by all models. A dramatic slope of Blazer's front hood works functionally to improve driver's visibility, and the vehicle's chassis includes front and rear crush zones to dampen collision forces. In addition to its safety features, Blazer also wears significant sound damping systems.

2005 Chevrolet Blazer SUV Review - Edmunds.com
By the late '90s, it was clear that if Chevrolet was going to be competitive once again, it was going to have to come to market with a bigger, more powerful midsize utility vehicle. In late 2001, the TrailBlazer was introduced as a 2002 model (not to be confused with the TrailBlazer trim package already available as an option on the existing Blazer) to much acclaim, as it once again put Chevrolet on the sport-utility map. This was great for Chevrolet, but not so good for buyers who were looking for an affordable sport-ute that still had plenty of features and power. FM CD stereo. The Blazer Xtreme trim comes in two-wheel drive only and adds an exterior appearance package, unique wheels and upgraded sport suspension. The Blazer ZR2 off-road package adds a wide stance frame, stronger gears and axles, heavy-duty shocks and springs, skid plates and a brush guard. There's lots of cargo space inside the Chevrolet Blazer, with the spare tire mounted outside the tailgate. Sadly, the Blazer's interior is marred by chintzy plastic and precious little footroom in front of a rather low and mushy seat.
2000 Chevrolet Blazer
Chevy Blazer is a traditional SUV, all truck with separate body-and-frame construction. The entry-level LS is distinguished this year by a dark argent grille, while the fancier LT has a body-color grille. The four-wheel-drive Blazer LS comes with push-button Insta-Trac, which allows shift-on-the-fly between 2WD and 4WD. However, the LT has the Autotrac four-wheel-drive system as standard equipment. New last year, Autotrac adds an Auto 4WD button. In this mode, the transfer case remains in 2WD until wheel slip is detected. The transmission shifts automatically into 4WD until prop shaft speeds are equalized, and then returns to 2WD. If multiple slip events are detected, the transfer case remains in 4WD for a longer time. Out on the Interstate, the Blazer cruises effortlessly.
