The day's big winners were a varied lot. Gary Lee Cooper took home First Place in the Traditional Sweepstakes for his "City Slicker" '52 Chevrolet Styleline DeLuxe (which coincidentally is featured elsewhere in this issue). Brian Doran took Second Place and Ken Wood came in Third. The Houston show was a happy event for everyone involved and with the event being indoors and the air conditioning pumping, the Arena was a comfortable environment in which to check out all of the cars on display.

From 1991 through 1997, he was director of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, director and chairman of the Houston Automobile Dealers Association and president of the Houston Chevrolet Ad Group and the Chevrolet First Team. Active in his community, Smith participates in various organizations in the Houston area. The Caballero Years/1958-59
Charles W. Roberts, the Assistant Dean of Men at Sam Houston, from Robert E. Joseph, an Assistant Executive Secretary for Sigma Chi. Joseph had received an inquiry from Dean Creager indicating that the Caballeros decided to affiliate with Sigma Chi. He made several suggestions for the Caballeros pursuit. First was to have Sam Houston placed on the preferred list. Next was to have approval from alumni groups and active chapters in the area, then a meeting with Grand Praetor Don Walker should be scheduled. Upon his approval, an investigating officer would be sent to meet with the interested group. On April 12, the active chaper held an open house for Sigma Chi representatives from the Unversity of Houston, Southern Methodist University, and Houston Alumni. Dean Creager gave a tour of the campus and the new housing for fraternities, then the group went to J. Dalehite indicated that the other three clubs had made their choices: the Esquires chose Delta Tau Delta; the Dons, Alpha Tau Omega; and the Ravens, Kappa Alpha. He stated that the Houston Alumni Association had voted in favor of the Cabs. However, the Cabs were most anxious to hear if they were approved by the national headquarters and the powers that be.
