Stewart's close call, when Kyle Busch spun on Lap 24, wasn't as scary as Johnson's, but it still gave Stewart pause. Busch had made contact on pit road with Mike Skinner and had a tire rub on his No. 5 Chevrolet on the restart. Newman and Jeff Gordon battled side-by-side for the lead after the next restart, with Gordon finally clearing Newman's Dodge on Lap 36. Gordon was well in front on Lap 43 when Bobby Labonte spun on the backstretch to bring out another yellow. Stewart's crew had adjusted on the No. 20 Chevrolet on the previous stop and the change had worked for a while. But Stewart was getting tight again before the yellow, so he asked for his crew to go further in that direction on this stop.

Post on the No. 1 DEI Chevrolet for a one race deal at Daytona. The car will be blue and white ("E" stripe will be white also) with the Post logo on the hood and Maxwell House on the rear quarter panels. This will be the second time Maxwell House has sponsored a DEI machine. Last season they sponsored Teresa Earnhardt and Dale Jr's Chance 2 Busch Series team at Las Vegas with driver Steve Park. This will be the first time since 1994 that Maxwell House has sponsored a car in NASCAR's top division, last being Bobby Labonte when he drove the No. 22 car for Bill Davis. Terry Labonte: The No. 5 Kellogg's Chevrolet will have some minor changes in 2004. The milk jug on the driver's side will be replaced with the No. 5's new associate sponsor Delphi, which comes over from the No. 25 car from 2003. Delphi will also replace Dupont on the rear deck lid. Labonte will also run a black and red Delphi scheme in five races starting at Las Vegas. Jeff Gordon: The popular Dupont "Flame" Chevrolet will remain the same in 2004. Gordon is also scheduled to run a new Pepsi paint scheme at Talladega in April. Expect to see more paint schemes on the No.

US Mayors Articles US Carmakers Should Put the Brakes on Urban ...
When Gabrielle Auto Group began operating Bill Gordon Chevrolet in downtown Rochester, and started turning sales around, they expected congratulations from GM. Instead, GM decided to close them down. And when Hernbrough Motors recently sought to expand its car dealership in economically distressed Rockford (IL), General Motors in a move that has become all too common among the Big Three automakers told the dealer to relocate or risk losing the franchise. This national trend is occurring even as some of the nation's leading car dealerships are flourishing in urban areas. Longo Toyota, the top-selling dealership in the country, has flourished in otherwise economically distressed El Monte (CA), near Los Angeles. Friendly Chevrolet recently announced plans to open a new $10 million dealership in downtown Dallas, and, 26 dealerships in Oakland (CA), are working with that city to create an urban automall because they want to remain in downtown. In Dallas, Friendly Chevrolet has operated out of an inner city neighborhood for years and yet it has become one of GM's top dealerships, selling 3,883 cars in 1995. The dealership is relocating this year, but it will remain in the city at a site near the downtown and adjacent to the Stemmons Freeway.

Ward's Dealer Business: Doing It Their Way
"The old concept of one-price based on grosses failed because salespeople couldn't or wouldn't get off commissions as their chief reimbursement," says Stewart, owner of Gordon Chevrolet in Garden City, MI, outside Detroit.
